A classical concert for young adults — no dress code, but with everything that makes for a special evening.
With the concert series "Bock auf Klassik?!" the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne invites everyone under 28 to an evening that makes classical music come alive in a new way: approachable, vibrant, and refreshingly different. For just 8 euros, you can experience great works by Mahler and Schubert, a personal narration throughout the evening — and afterwards a musical wind-down with a DJ, free drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere in the foyer.
On June 30th, the evening begins in the concert hall with Gustav Mahler’s rarely performed piece Blumine — a sensitive soundscape featuring a touching trumpet solo. Then, Cologne mezzo-soprano Anna Lucia Richter will sing songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, full of emotional depth, poetry, and wit. The evening concludes with Franz Schubert’s so-called “Little” Symphony in C major — a work that captivates with youthful energy, charm, and sonic sophistication.
But the night doesn’t end with the final note: the foyer will keep buzzing — with a DJ set by Cologne artist no:elia, who will provide a stylish musical transition with rhythmic beats, breaks, and soul influences. Not a club night, but definitely a place to stay, listen, connect, and keep celebrating.
