The »Sacred Music at the Shrine of the Three Kings« series is financially supported by the Cologne Cathedral Cultural Foundation.

With his official inaugural concert on Thursday, 25 June 2026, featuring all four choirs at Cologne Cathedral, Cathedral Music Director Alexander Niehues sets a significant musical tone. Together with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne – appearing in this line-up for the first time under the baton of Alexander Niehues – the concert continues the long-standing tradition of the great cathedral concerts. The programme features two outstanding works of 19th-century sacred music: Giacomo Puccini’s »Messa di Gloria«, an early work with clear links to opera, and Georges Bizet’s festive »Te Deum«, which captivates with its radiant choral and orchestral effect.
