ELLEN oder ES WIRD GUT

A musical fairy tale by Anno Schreier (composition) and Alexander Jansen (text) based on motifs from Anne Frank's story »The Fairy« (world premiere).

Over a period of three months, 300 Year 2 pupils work with singing teachers to prepare the piece »ELLEN oder ES WIRD GUT« (premiere), which is performed at the end of the project in two concerts with the Gürzenich-Orchestra Cologne.

Ellen has everything – and yet something is missing. Having come into great wealth as an orphan, she has enough to live a carefree life, but she feels no contentment.

So she makes a decision: she wants to help. And so she sets out. But how does one truly reach people who are struggling? Hesitantly, she begins, listens, and takes her first tentative steps. A year later, she suddenly finds herself facing ruin: there is nothing left of her wealth.

It is precisely then that she meets children who show her what really matters: not everything can be bought. Only solidarity and compassion can help against loneliness, injustice and exclusion.
