Fostering talent and sustainably supporting the next generation of musical elites: the Gürzenich Orchestra sees this as an important part of its responsibility. In the Orchestral Academy, founded a few years ago, outstanding musicians receive their final polishing and optimal preparation for professional life in an orchestra at the end of their studies. Now, the Gürzenich Orchestra and Andrés Orozco-Estrada are launching a close collaboration with one of the world’s leading training institutions and presenting the classical stars of tomorrow: The Kronberg Academy fosters internationally outstanding instrumentalists with promising solo careers ahead. In the opening concert of this new cooperation, three exceptional young talents perform key works of the repertoire for their respective instruments. Dmytro Udovychenko has already won one of Europe’s most prestigious violin competitions, the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. The violinist tackles the extraordinary demands of Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto. Violist Haesue Lee made her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of twelve. Her meteoric career really took off after a sensational first prize at the 2023 ARD Competition in Munich. William Walton’s Viola Concerto offers her ample opportunity to demonstrate her outstanding skills. The youngest member of the trio is the 22-year-old cellist Lionel Martin, also decorated with numerous awards. He confidently masters all the challenges of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1.
