This is the sound of Cologne – with heart, brass and that Cologne spirit.
When the young talents of the Rheinische Musikschule’s Youth Symphony Wind Orchestra join forces with the musicians of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the result is a concert that brings people together: generations, musical worlds and a genuine love for our home town. Look forward to a concert that showcases just how vibrant and forward-looking Cologne sounds.
At this year’s matinee at Cologne’s Flora, themed ‘This is the Sound of Cologne’, the Symphonic Youth Wind Orchestra of the Rheinische Musikschule will perform alongside the trombone quartet of the Gürzenich Orchestra, conducted by Michael Rosinus. The young oboist Bomin Bang will perform as a soloist. He is a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra’s Orchestra Academy, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this autumn. It supports up-and-coming international orchestral musicians and sees itself as a talent incubator for gifted young instrumentalists, who are prepared for their professional careers either immediately after or towards the end of their studies.
Supported by the cultural partnership between the Gürzenich Orchestra and the Rheinische Musikschule der Stadt Köln, the Kölsche Funke Rut – wieß vun 1823, in cooperation with koelncongress and Sparkasse KölnBonn, this matinee is a powerful commitment to fostering top-class young talent – right from the heart of the city, for the city.
