Konzertmeisterin Natalie Chee schickt das Gürzenich-Orchester Köln auf eine Reise gen Osten und Norden: mit Bartóks Rumänischen Volkstänzen und Griegs Suite »Als Holbergs Zeit«. Im Oktober 2020 konnte das Konzertprogramm noch vor Publikum aufgezeichnet werden.

Ein Sonderkonzert des Gürzenich-Orchesters anlässlich des Festjahres »1700 Jahre Jüdisches Leben in Deutschland«. Lahav Shani, der junge Chefdirigent des Israel Philharmonic Orchestra und der Rotterdamer Philharmoniker, hat dafür ein Programm zusammengestellt, welches das Thema jüdisches Leben in Deutschland auf vielfältige Weise umkreist.

For his new orchestral piece »Tér-szín-tér«, Marton Illés places the Gürzenich Orchestra compliantly to pandemic restrictions throughout the entire area of the Cologne Philharmonic. His »room scene« sets the hall in intense vibrations.

Experience for the first time with the Gürzenich Orchestra pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout playing Beethoven's 3rd piano concerto, the »Poème Symphonique« for 100 metronomes by György Ligeti and the 8th symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, conducted by François-Xavier Roth. The concert includes the world premiere of »Fanfare for Brass« by Philip Manoury.

Es waren besondere Bedingungen, unter denen François-Xavier Roth mit seinem Gürzenich-Orchester Köln aus der Kölner Philharmonie zu einem Orchesterfest einlud. Corona-bedingt waren Sicherheitsabstände auf der Bühne einzuhalten, die der Größe der Besetzungen Grenzen setzten. Aber Einschränkungen haben Künstler schon immer beflügelt, und so entstand ein Abend, der den gesamten Klangfarbenreichtum des traditionsreichen Orchesters präsentiert. Mit Musik von Paul Dukas, Giovanni Gabrieli, W.A. Mozart, Edgar Varèse, Bohuslav Martinů und Gustav Mahler.
