On April 6, 2021, on the 50th anniversary of his death, we celebrated a concert marathon to honour the composer Igor Stravinsky and his work - and the interpreter Stravinsky: 90 years ago he conducted the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne with his own works.

With Vilde Frang, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Harry Ogg and François-Xavier Roth.

Neuwirth ⎮ Brahms ⎮ Illés

In 1886, Johannes Brahms insisted on presenting his 1st piano concerto to the people of Cologne in person. 135 years later Kirill Gerstein is a guest of the Gürzenich Orchestra with this piece.

For his new orchestral piece »Tér-szín-tér«, Marton Illés places the Gürzenich Orchestra compliantly to pandemic restrictions throughout the entire area of the Cologne Philharmonic. His »room scene« sets the hall in intense vibrations.

Another piece from our series »Fanfares for a new Beginning« kicks off the new year: Olga Neuwirth spreads »Sounds of Hope« in her piece »Coronation V« for wind instruments and percussion.
