»How do we keep the music playing« - How can we make sure that music keeps going, that we play and that the audience can enjoy it? With a song by Michael Legrand, the brass players of the Gürzenich Orchestra explore this more than ever topical question - and find several answers at once: they donate the proceeds of the stream to the special fund of the Cultural Council »Musiker*innen beflügeln«, which benefits freelance musicians in Cologne. After all, music only comes to life if those who make it can find support in difficult times. The Gürzenich Brass ensemble has now set out to counter the enforced abstinence from live audiences with a particularly glamorous celebration via stream. Handel's »Fireworks Music« shines in truly regal splendor, a »Brass Symphony« by Dutchman Jan Koetsier demonstrates with esprit and temperament that brass players can effortlessly replace an entire orchestra. Film music classics, arranged for brass ensemble by musicians of the Gürzenich Orchestra and an original composition by trombonist Markus Lenzing provide momentum and good humor - which are also essential to let music continue to be an essential part of our lives.
