Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and Kronberg Academy Launch Exclusive Partnership to Support Young Soloists Starting in the New Season

From the 2025/26 season onwards, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the Kronberg Academy will launch an exclusive five-year partnership under the artistic direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada. The goal of this collaboration is the sustainable support of outstanding young soloists through an annual concert as part of the Gürzenich Orchestra’s subscription series at the Cologne Philharmonie.

Gürzenich-Orchester Köln with Sakari Oramo and Mao Fujita

The exceptional Japanese pianist Mao Fujita will make his debut with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. In the symphonic concert "Ein und Alles", he will perform Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54. The second half of the concert will feature Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor. Sakari Oramo will conduct the concerts on February 2, 3, and 4, 2025, at the Cologne Philharmonie.

Kick-off for the Big Anniversary of "Ohrenauf!", the Music Education Program of the Gürzenich Orchestra For 25 years, "Ohrenauf!" has been captivating people of all ages with concerts, workshops, and participatory projects. Over this time, nearly 200,000 people have taken part in various offerings and experienced how classical music can inspire. This milestone is worth celebrating: The celebration begins with the opening weekend "Drumroll" from March 8-10, with many special events to follow throughout the year.

Andrés Orozco-Estrada will be the new General Music Director

Andrés Orozco-Estrada will become the new General Music Director of the City of Cologne. Starting in 2025, he will take on the musical leadership of the Gürzenich Orchestra and the Opera.
