The Cologne Citizen Orchestra has become a tradition and has been very popular since its founding in the 2019/20 season: it enables a musical togetherness and a community where ambitious amateur musicians play side by side with the musicians of the Gürzenich Orchestra. Together with the orchestra’s own instructors, an ambitious concert program has been prepared again this year, which will be presented by everyone together on stage at the final concert. The offer is open to anyone who plays an instrument, whether advanced or not. The demand is so great that participation is now decided by lottery. On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Kölner Philharmonie, it will happen again. Under the direction of Mariano Chiacchiarini, well-known melodies, such as from Gustav Holst’s The Planets, will be heard. Mariano Chiacchiarini regularly collaborates with the most renowned orchestras. He is a winner of the German Music Prize (formerly the ECHO Music Prize) and the KONEX Music Award. He was last seen with the Gürzenich Orchestra in the family concert Carnival of Emotions at the Kölner Philharmonie.
