We do not offer an introduction to this concert.
Cheeky and witty, rebellious and rousing, this is how we start the year 2025 with our audience. Also included: Till Eulenspiegel and his amusing pranks, which the Bavarian sound magician Richard Strauss captured in a tone poem. A masterfully orchestrated milestone in orchestral literature, created almost exactly 130 years ago by the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne.
In the wake of the profound joker with the jester's cap, we can welcome further New Year's greeters: among them Maurice Ravel with his most stubborn and at the same time most popular stroke of genius and the Rhinelander Bernd Alois Zimmermann, who shows himself from a completely different side to celebrate the day.
A concert like a sparkling cocktail of Viennese wit and British solemnity, with a pinch of Rhenish humor and a dash of French elegance artfully mixed by your Gürzenich Orchestra.
