»200 years of Kölsche Funke rut-wieß founded 1823«
Carnival in Cologne is more than just Kölsch beer and caramel sweets. It is a very special way to look at the world. Already before the session begins, the Gürzenich Orchestra will take this anniversary as an opportunity to enter into a new, special cultural partnership, one in red and white (or in Cologne’s dialect: rut-wieß). Together with the “Red Sparks”, Cologne’s oldest traditional corps, we are supporting young musical talents in our city. This is the sound of Cologne: popular classics and rarities from the Rhineland from 200 years of music history, presented in a cooperation concert of the Gürzenich Orchestra with the youth symphony orchestra of the Rheinische Music School. Join us in pure, unadulterated anticipation of the controlled loss of control that classical music and Carnival have always had in common.
