Alexander Schubert
Alexander Schubert, born in 1991 in Neustadt an der Aisch, began his first drum lessons at the age of six with Philip Ring at the local district music school. After completing his high school diploma and military service with the Bundeswehr Music Corps in Siegburg, he began studying in 2011 at the State University of Music Trossingen with Franz Lang (SWR Symphony Orchestra Freiburg/Baden-Baden). Other important teachers for him there included Benjamin Forster (Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich), Stefan Gagelmann (Munich Philharmonic), and Stefan Gawlick (Concerto Köln). Alexander Schubert was also a member of the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra from 2008 to 2010 and is a multiple first-prize winner of the "Jugend musiziert" competition. In October 2013, he won the audition for the orchestra academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra before being engaged in December of the same year as the principal percussionist of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne.
