Antonia Schreiber
For Antonia Schreiber, a long-held dream came true when she began playing the harp at the age of 11. To this day, she is full of enthusiasm for her instrument, its musical expressive possibilities, and its wide range of sounds.
Antonia Schreiber studied with renowned teachers such as Helga Storck in Munich, Charlotte Balzereit in Vienna, and Germaine Lorenzini in Lyon. She also received important impulses from François Leleux, Cristina Bianchi, Isabelle Moretti, and Sarah O’Brien.
She is a prizewinner of national and international competitions and has been supported by foundations such as the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and Villa Musica Mainz. As a soloist, she has performed with well-known orchestras such as the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig and the Staatsorchester Braunschweig.
Today, Antonia Schreiber is the principal harpist of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. From 2008 to 2011, she played at the Vienna State Opera and with the Vienna Philharmonic. Before that, she was a scholarship holder at the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra Academy and a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the German National Youth Orchestra. Alongside her orchestral work, Antonia Schreiber devotes herself with great joy to chamber music. She performs at various festivals and chamber music series and is a founding member of the Auros Trio (flute, viola, harp).
In October 2020, her duo CD “Pan and Apollo – Water Music for Flute and Harp,” recorded together with Alja Velkaverh, principal flutist of the Gürzenich Orchestra, was released by Hänssler Classic. Further recordings include Johannes Brahms’ Four Songs with the Audi Youth Choir and Kent Nagano, as well as the world premiere recording of Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s work CROWD for solo harp.
Antonia Schreiber loves to rediscover and perform unjustly rarely played works and to creatively develop unique concert programs.
