Blaž Šparovec
Blaž Šparovec is originally from Slovenia and studied in Ljubljana with Andrej Zupan and in Berlin with François Benda. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has won several prizes, including First Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in 2019. He was a scholarship holder of both the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation) and the Republic of Slovenia.
As a soloist, Blaž Šparovec has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Slovenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Academic State Capella, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber orchestras. In 2015, he released his debut CD Enter Clarinet, featuring works by Debussy, Weber, Rossini, Denisov, and Penderecki.
Since 2015, Blaž Šparovec has been Principal Clarinetist of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts.
