Georg Heimbach
The native of Cologne, Georg Heimbach, began his cello studies during his school years as a junior student with Kurt Herzbruch at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. After graduating from high school, he initially studied with Maria Kliegel in Essen and later at the Berlin University of the Arts with Wolfgang Boettcher. At the same time, he pursued chamber music studies with the Amadeus Quartet. After one year as a cellist with the Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hannover, Georg Heimbach joined the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne in 1990. There, he co-founded the Gürzenich Cello Trio, with which he released CD recordings and radio broadcasts. In a duo with pianist Florian Wiek, Georg Heimbach recorded several cello sonatas for WDR. Additionally, he is a co-founder and artistic director of the Odenthal Chamber Concerts.
