Gerhard Dierig studied viola in Essen and Düsseldorf and completed his artistic diploma under Jürgen Kussmaul. Together with his siblings, he formed the Dierig Quartet. Besides that, he is also interested in singing: in recent years, Gerhard Dierig has performed roles such as Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Alfred in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. In various ensembles, he also focuses on music from the early decades of the 20th century, especially classical and Hungarian operetta as well as film music. Since 1991, he has been a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra and also performs as a soloist.
