Julian Bachmann

Julian Bachmann has been a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne since December 2020. He studied with Martin Ostertag at the Karlsruhe University of Music and with Troels Svane at the Lübeck University of Music, where he completed his concert examination in June 2022. The cellist completed his training at the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. Julian Bachmann also received important musical impulses through masterclasses with Wolfgang Boettcher (Carl Flesch Academy), Jens-Peter Maintz (Kronberg Academy), Steven Isserlis, Jörg Widmann, Bernhard Greenhouse, Daniel Müller-Schott, and David Geringas.

He received support from the German Foundation for Musical Life, the Jürgen Ponto Foundation, the Deutschlandstipendium, the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Zukunftsinitiative Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg. In addition, he was a scholarship holder of Villa Musica and the Chamber Music Academy of the Heidelberger Frühling.

Julian Bachmann has already performed at numerous well-known festivals, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Heidelberger Frühling, Mozartfest Würzburg, Schwetzinger Festspiele, and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival. His chamber music partners have included musicians such as Martin Stadtfeld, Herbert Schuch, and Igor Levit. As a soloist, the cellist has performed with orchestras such as the Philharmonic Orchestra Heidelberg, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, Camerata Villa Musica, the Kurpfälzisches Chamber Orchestra, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, and the Lübeck Philharmonic.
