Katharina Apel-Hülshoff
Katharina Apel-Hülshoff studied with Christoph Henkel in Freiburg and, as a scholarship recipient, spent one year at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, studying with Paul Katz, the cellist of the Cleveland Quartet. She completed her concert examination with Christoph Richter at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Katharina Apel-Hülshoff attended masterclasses with Steven Isserlis and Anner Bylsma and was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie as well as a scholarship holder of the Rheinland-Pfalz state foundation Villa Musica. She played as the second solo cellist of the Royal Philharmonic of Flanders in Antwerp and was a member of the Het Brabants Orkest in Eindhoven as well as the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne. Since January 2008, she has been a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. The passionate chamber musician is the initiator and artistic director of the Kammermusikfest Kloster Kamp and has been a member of the Martfeld Quartet since 2010.
