Sergey Khvorostukhin

2nd Violin Principal

Sergey Khvorostukhin, born in Russia, made his orchestral debut at the age of eight. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory as well as with Dorothy DeLay and Kurt Sassmannshaus in the USA. He also attended masterclasses with Yehudi Menuhin, Ida Haendel, Pierre Amoyal, and Yfrah Neaman. A prizewinner of numerous international competitions, he has performed at festivals such as Aspen and Tanglewood and as a soloist with orchestras from Russia, Italy, Belgium, France, Denmark, and the USA. Concerts as a chamber musician have taken him to Venice, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Brussels, Boston, Milan, Belgrade, and Paris. Since 2002, Sergey Khvorostukhin has been the principal second violin of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne.
