Simon de Klein

Simon de Klein was born in Emmerich. After beginning to teach himself, he took private trumpet lessons at the age of eight. In 2002, he continued his studies at the Music and Art School in Wesel, where he also received lessons in piano, music theory, and ear training. After attending courses with Konradin Groth at the Berlin University of the Arts, Matthias Höfs, Gábor Tarkövi, Uwe Köller, and the Hungarian György Geiger, Simon de Klein began studying at the Detmold University of Music in 2007 with Max Sommerhalder, initially in instrumental pedagogy before switching to orchestral music. He graduated in 2013 with a diploma in orchestral performance.

Since August 2010, Simon de Klein has been the principal trumpeter of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. He has also appeared as a guest with the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra and the WDR Symphony Orchestra. On the chamber music level, he was a member of the Rhineland brass ensemble Wes10 Brass and in 2016 participated in the concert series of "Kammermusik für Köln e.V."
