Thomas Jedamzik

Bassoon Principal

Thomas Jedamzik is from Düsseldorf. He studied bassoon with Helman Jung in Detmold, Mathew Wilkie in Frankfurt, and most recently with Volker Tessmann in Lübeck. Early on, he played in international youth orchestras, including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra in 1989 and as principal bassoonist in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in 1999. In 2001, he won first prize in the wind quintet category at the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition in Berlin. Thomas Jedamzik began his professional orchestral career as an intern with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and joined the Gürzenich Orchestra in 2003 initially as second bassoon. Since 2004, he has been the principal bassoonist there.
