Ursula Maria Berg
Ursula Maria Berg received her training with Ernö Sebestyèn at the State University of Music in Munich, graduating with a master class diploma. She attended master classes with, among others, Wanda Wilkomirska and Rainer Kussmaul as well as Igor Ozim and Hermann Krebbers. Further studies followed with Franco Gulli at Indiana University in Bloomington, USA, and with Günter Pichler, the first violinist of the Alban Berg Quartet, in Vienna. She is, among other distinctions, a first prize winner and Mozart Prize recipient at the International Chamber Music Competition "Premio Trio di Trieste". As a soloist, Ursula Maria Berg has performed with leading orchestras, including the Munich Philharmonic, the Augsburg Philharmonic, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra, and the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne — most recently at the Cologne Philharmonie with Korngold’s Violin Concerto. Her discography includes, among others, the highly acclaimed complete recording of the violin sonatas by Robert Fuchs. Since 1999, Ursula Maria Berg has been the concertmaster of the Gürzenich Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral duties, she regularly performs as a soloist and in various chamber music ensembles.
