Elisabeth Polyzoides

1st violin

Elisabeth Polyzoides was born in Graz. She studied with Christos Polyzoides at the Music University of Graz and with Franz Samohyl at the Music University of Vienna. Master classes with Max Rostal, Ramy Shevelov, Arthur Grumiaux and Wolfgang Marschner followed. Her professional path led her via the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bach Kollegium Munich to Cologne, where she has been principal violinist in the renowned Gürzenich Orchestra since 1989. Elisabeth Polyzoides has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in almost all European countries, in America, Japan and China. She is also a member of the "Kölner Streichsextett".
For more than 20 years Elisabeth Polyzoides has been teaching at international master classes, among others in Austria, Greece, Bulgaria and China. Additionally, she is in charge of a preparatory violin class in Cologne.
