Selma Louise Ringdal

Horn – Orchestra academy

Selma Ringdal was born in Oslo, Norway in 2002 and received her first horn lessons from Synnøve Hannisdal at the age of eight. At the age of twelve, she was accepted into the youth program at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, where she was taught by Prof. Frøydis Ree Wekre. She later received lessons from Rune Brodahl, Maxim Semenov and Martin Schöpfer. Since 2021 Selma has been studying at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin with Prof. Sibylle Mahni. She has taken part in masterclasses with musicians such as Johannes Hinterholzer, Tine Thing Helseth, Marie Luise Neunecker, François Leleux and Guillaume Jehl. Selma has participated in numerous festivals such as the Valdres Summer Festival (Youth Artist), the Bergen National Opera Academy, the Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy, the Mattheiser Summer Academy and the Starnberger Musiktage (scholarship holder). As a substitute, she has played in the Stuttgart State Orchestra, the Kammerakademie Potsdam and the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, among others. She has been an academy member of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne since fall 2023.
