Julian Bachmann

Julian Bachmann has been a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne since December 2020. He studied with Martin Ostertag at the Karlsruhe University of Music and with Troels Svane at the Lübeck University of Music, where he graduated with the concert exam in June 2022. The cellist completed his training at the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. Julian Bachmann also received important musical impulses through master classes with Wolfgang Boettcher (Carl Flesch Academy), Jens-Peter Maintz (Kronberg Academy), Steven Isserlis, Jörg Widmann, Bernhard Greenhouse, Daniel Müller-Schott and David Geringas.

Julian Bachmann has received funding from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Jürgen Ponto Foundation, the Deutschlandstipendium, the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Zukunftsinitiative Rheinland-Pfalz and the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg. He was also a scholarship holder of the Villa Musica and the Chamber Music Academy of the Heidelberg Spring.

Julian Bachmann has performed at numerous well-known festivals, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Heidelberger Frühling, the Mozartfest Würzburg, the Schwetzinger Festspiele and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. His chamber music partners have included musicians such as Martin Stadtfeld, Herbert Schuch and Igor Levit. As a soloist, the cellist performs with orchestras such as the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the Camerata Villa Musica, the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra or the Lübeck Philharmonic Orchestra.
