Katharina Apel-Hülshoff

Katharina Apel-Hülshoff studied with Christoph Henkel in Freiburg and spent a year on scholarship at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester (New York) with Paul Katz, the cellist of the Cleveland Quartet. She took her concert exam with Christoph Richter at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen. Katharina Apel-Hülshoff attended master classes with Steven Isserlis and Anner Bylsma and was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie as well as a scholarship holder of the Landesstiftung Rheinland-Pfalz Villa Musica. She played as 2nd solo cellist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, Antwerp, and was a member of Het Brabants Orkest in Eindhoven and of the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne. Since January 2008 she has been a member of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. The passionate chamber musician is initiator and artistic director of the chamber music festival Kloster Kamp and she is a member of the Martfeld Quartet since 2010.
