The city of Cologne and François-Xavier Roth have now ended their collaboration by mutual agreement a year earlier than planned.

François-Xavier Roth thanks the City of Cologne for the opportunity to have realized extraordinary projects with the Gürzenich Orchestra and the Cologne Opera over the past nine years. The City of Cologne recognizes the artistic achievements during his time as General Music Director.

The upcoming conducting duties will be taken over by guest conductors. The Gürzenich Orchestra and Cologne Opera will inform the public about this shortly. The position of General Music Director will not be filled for the 2024/25 season. As already announced, Andrés Orozco Estrada will take over the position from the 2025/26 season.
